Dear Friend of Disability Rights:

I need your help! I have volunteered to join in the ADAPT FUN*RUN for Disability Rights which supports Philly ADAPT work to make community living a reality for everyone.

I will roll my way around Upper D Park - Area 14 - "C" St. SW and South Capitol St. on 05/13/2018 until I complete 25 laps.

Since last year's Fun*Run I have helped organize a direct action campaign to save the ADA which led to eight arrest - some in Philly and some in DC.

In Philly we went after Senator Toomey each time he came to the city, and protested his office a number of times in response to his support to abolish our healthcare. We went after Toomey in Harrisburg also and in his DC office too. In DC, we did the first sit-in at Senator Mitch McConnell office, which led to the #SummerOfADAPT - where in the midsts of it all we organized a Campout to Save Medicaid outside the Senate Russell bldg when Senator McCain decidedly voted against cutting the ACA. And we finished it stopping Senator's Hatche's hearing on the Graham-Cassidy bill where we got charged for Disrupting Congress.

This year we began by pushing a resolution in Philadelohia to increase housing funds to $50 million, and at the State level we're making sure the managed care being forced on us is consumer directed and controlled. And more recently we begun fighting back the Medciaid work requirements the State wants to impose on us. Nationally, we've made sure Senator Casey and our three local Representatives sign in to the Disability Integration Act (which would make longterm services and supports a civil right), campout out for 12 days outside the FDA Commissioner, Dr. Gottlieb, condominium in DC demanding him to stop shock aversions at the Judge Rottenberg Education Center in Massachusets. And soon we'll begin a strong campaign to pass the Empower Care Act which will help liberate people from nursing institutions through Money Follows the Person.

The fight to keep our disabled community will only get harder in this administration and I need your help to keep up the fight. I will participate, organize, and fight with all that I have to ensure one day All people with disabilities have the option to live freely in their homes without being inhumanly tortured.
